TBH it seems like there’s a broad shift in the technology being used in the entire auto industry to get as much mpg out of a big engine as possible these days, obviously since gas prices have askyrocketed since then. 10-20 years ago I couldn’t imagine engines as big as these getting more than 10 mpg. I remember a commercial, forgot the product, of a man with a Lamborghini-like super car at a gas pump filling his tank with a pretty woman oogling him. He gets in his car and revs it twice and the gas gauge dropped from full to empty.
Obviously that’s an exaggeration, and even supercars these days don’t have great gas mileage, but that was the overall perception of big engine vehicles then… that paradigm seems to be shifting as companies are proving you can have power and performance and not completely sacrifice your fuel efficiency. I kinda love it.
