The *Duke* was built in April 1954, and resembles most British locomotives from the 1930s onwards. The last steam locomotive built by British Rail was the BR Standard Class 9F [92220 *Evening Star*](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BR_standard_class_9F_92220_Evening_Star#/media/File:92220_EVENING_STAR_at_Bolton_Percy.jpg), built in April 1960. The last mainline steam-hauled revenue-earning service in the UK was in August 1968.
