Just means that the complexity to another stable design pattern is high. It is also largely a function of people.

Blended wing designs with much much better glide slopes and drag performance. However, you cant put humans far off the axis around which the plane rolls (the one down the middle of the body) as people would significantly notice the motion (think people barfing everywhere). The internal volume of a blended wing design is spread much father off the roll axis and so you would be able to fill less of the plane with humans, and as of yet it would seem that that penalty along with the other challenges of a blended wing type design make any gains to marginal to implement.

If you had enough air cargo, you might see such designs any ways. But the tooling cost of building a pure cargo aircraft don’t make up for the benefits either.
